How do I use the Personal Message (PM) system?

Personal Messages are an easy way to communicate with other members without having to post a publicly viewable message

Sending Messages

  • Click the Personal Message button of the person you are sending a message to (It's under their name in any post they make).
  • You'll be taken to the New Message page, the recipient's name will already be filled in.
  • Type in your title in the Subject box
  • Type your message on the large message area
  • Click the Send Message button

  • Or

  • Click on the member name of the person you wish to send a message
  • Click the Send this member a personal message. link near the bottom of the page
  • Write your message and replace (no subject) in the Subject box with a title
  • Click the Send Message button

Your message will be sent instantly as long as the recipient has enough room left in their inbox.

Viewing Messages

  • Go to the Home page, use the Home button if you are not there already.
  • Find your Member box in the left hand column
  • Click PM: to go to your Private Message inbox, where all messages sent to you will be listed

Deleting Messages

  • Go to the Home page, use the Home button if you are not there already.
  • Find your Member box in the left hand column.
  • Click PM: to go to your Personal Message inbox, where all messages sent to you will be listed.
  • Tick the boxes on the right of each message in the list, that you want to delete.
  • Click Delete Selected button
  • Click OK button

To remove any messages from your Outbox.

  • Click Outbox in the list on the righthand side
  • Continues as for deleting Inbox messages

Message or messages will now be deleted

To delete all messages in one go

  • When viewing your Personal Messages
  • Click Prune Messages on the small left-hand menu
  • Adjust the number of days in the Delete all personal messages older than box
  • Click the Delete button

NB: It is important to regularly delete your messages, so there is room for new incoming messages.

All members of Under One Roof can store up to 25 messages at a time.
