Personal Message help
Personal Messages are an easy way to communicate with other members without having to post a publicly viewable message.
How do I use the Personal Message (PM) system?
Sending Messages
- Click the Personal Message button of the person you are sending a message to (It's under their name in any post they make).
- You'll be taken to the New Message page, the recipient's name will already be filled in.
- Type in your title in the Subject box
- Type your message on the large message area
- Click the Send Message button
Or
- Click on the member name of the person you wish to send a message
- Click the Send this member a personal message. link near the bottom of the page
- Write your message and replace (no subject) in the Subject box with a title
- Click the Send Message button
Viewing Messages
- Go to the Home page, use the Home button if you are not there already
- Find your Member box in the left hand column
- Click PM: to go to your Private Message inbox, where all messages sent to you will be listed
Deleting Messages
- Go to the Home page, use the Home button if you are not there already.
- Find your Member box in the left hand column.
- Click PM: to go to your Personal Message inbox, where all messages sent to you will be uled.
- Tick the boxes on the right of each message in the list, that you want to delete.
- Click Delete Selected button
- Click OK button
Deleting Messages from your Outbox.
- Click Outbox in the list on the righthand side
- Continue as for deleting Inbox messages
To delete all messages in one go
- When viewing your Personal Messages
- Click Prune Messages on the small left-hand menu
- Adjust the number of days in the Delete all personal messages older than box
- Click the Delete button
NB: It is important to regularly delete your messages, so there is room for new incoming messages.
All members of Under One Roof can store up to 250 messages at any one time. This is the total number of messages that can be stored in both your inbox and outbox.
